Bio

Katie McGarry was a first-place winner in Room’s Winter 2017-18 Short Forms Contest and was shortlisted for The Malahat Review’s 2018 Far Horizons Poetry Award. Her poem “Self Portrait with Snacks” won Editor’s Choice in Contemporary Verse 2′s 2018 2-Day Poem Contest. Her writing has also appeared in the Best Canadian Poetry series, The Humber Literary Review, and the anthology GUSH: Menstrual Manifestos for our Times (Frontenac House, 2018).

Katie holds an MSc in Mathematics from McMaster University and is a recent graduate of The Writer’s Studio Online through Simon Fraser University. Originally from Toronto, Katie lives in Kitchener and works at Wilfrid Laurier University as a Mathematics Lab Coordinator and Contract Faculty member.
